Haywards Heath Night Care Positions

At Ashton Care Recruitment, we are seeking candidates for Haywards Heath night care assistant positions in our four care homes. We consider experienced carers and inexperienced competent carers with a passion for providing superior care and helping residents maintain their dignity and privacy.

Our Haywards Heath care assistants receive full training to ensure the highest standard of care and support for our residents in a warm and friendly home environment. Additionally, training in the English language is provided for our staff, when required. English language training is offered twice a week.

Job Responsibilities & Qualifications

Night care assistants report to the registered nurse on duty and are responsible to the home manager. The tasks required for this role vary, depending on whether the carer is working during the day or at night, as well as the specific needs of our residents. The general qualifications and required skills include numeracy, literacy, and English speaking abilities, good communication skills, awareness of dementia, NVQ Level 2, and a willingness to learn.

The responsibilities of the position include:

  • Assisting residents in getting ready for bed and settling down
  • Providing care during the night for hygiene, continence, mobility, and general care
  • Checking on residents at predetermined intervals
  • Carrying out regular checks on the building for security and fire prevention
  • Maintaining the privacy and dignity of residents
  • Answering emergency bells and calls from residents
  • Assisting residents with their needs during the night, including company, refreshments and reassurance
  • Administering medications as prescribed and at designated times
  • Verbal and written communication with the person in charge about the general condition of residents and any developments
  • Courteously greeting night visitors and checking identification for security purposes
  • Answering telephones and taking messages, as needed
  • Maintaining accurate records and notes for day staff
  • Work as a team with the day staff to prepare residents for bed and assist them in the morning
  • Domestic duties, such as dusting, table layering, and hoovering, as time allows
  • Undertaking training the home manager deems appropriate
